Our Mission

At Paragon Anesthesia, we are committed to providing patients, physicians, and medical institutions with the highest level of care and expertise. We take an evidence-based approach to delivering best practice anesthesia and pain management solutions, while ensuring patient wellbeing and optimized procedural efficiency.

Our Practice

As the largest private anesthesia group serving the Northeastern Tennessee and Southwestern Virginia regions, Paragon Anesthesia is known for its world-class anesthesia services and uncompromising standards of professionalism. Our anesthesiologists are all board certified and include the only Transesophageal Echocardiography certified anesthesiologists in the Tri Cities area. We adhere to the Anesthesia Care Team approach, which integrates certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs) as part of the care team to optimize patient care and safety. In some instances, we provide physician-administered anesthesia as appropriate.

We work closely with surgeons and medical institutions to deliver the highest level of safety and comfort to our patients.

We are proud to announce our achievement in receiving the prestigious "President’s Award for Quality," in recognition of our outstanding performance for efficient on-time starts. Our recent initiatives include Enhanced Recovery after Surgery, Sleep Apnea Management, Choosing Wisely, and Peri-operative case management standardization.

Our Providers

Paragon Anesthesia has a longstanding culture of integrity, compassion, and teamwork. Our anesthesiologists coordinate with and provide direction to CRNAs (certified registered nurse anesthetists) so each patient can receive compassionate and customized anesthesia care. Patient safety and comfort are always paramount.

The anesthesiologists of Paragon Anesthesia are all board certified Medical Doctors (MDs) who specialize in providing anesthesia. This specialized training makes them uniquely qualified to care for patients requiring anesthesia for a wide variety of procedures, from open heart surgery to colonoscopies. They have the knowledge and experience to anticipate challenges that may arise during a procedure, as well as the ability to continuously assess and treat various health issues that can occur due to the effects of anesthesia.

Our anesthesiologists collaborate with and direct CRNAs (certified registered nurse anesthetists) as part of a care team, to ensure maximum precision, safety, and efficiency in the way we care for each patient. Nurse anesthetists are highly trained health professionals who obtain additional specialized training in the monitoring of patients and delivery of anesthesia.

Our Community

We are proud to support many local programs that contribute to the community, such as the Ballad Health Foundation and Niswonger Children's Hospital, plus United Way, Healing Hands and the American Heart Association. We also offer the Richard M. Penny Memorial Scholarship to select Virginia High and Tennessee High seniors who aspire to careers in healthcare, in order to develop the next generation of healthcare professionals.
